The annual Generation Next Basketball Association saw its third installment come to an end last month in Wisconsin as teams competed for league supremacy at the 5th-8th grade levels. A deep and talented 8th grade division saw a number of high quality matchups and some exceptional performances but high caliber middle school standouts. When the final horn sounded the impressive duo of Reece Beekman and Jamari Sibley had paced Wisconsin United to the 8th grade championship and impressed in the process.

REECE BEEKMAN – PG – WISCONSIN UNITED
The rising young floor general continued his ascent this past spring with an exceptional effort during the GNBA. Whether it was scoring, passing, defending, or simply providing energy and floor leadership Beekman was up to the task and he did so in dominant and impressive fashion. His range extends beyond the arc and he can score from all three levels with consistency. His feel, instincts, and quickness make him a problem on the defensive end of the court and his handles and overall understanding of the game and decision making allow him to serve as an extension of the coach on the court offensively. Was extremely impressed with not only the efforts but the large steps of improvement Beekman showed this past season and he was the catalyst for Wisconsin United capturing the 8th grade league championship. Exceptional overall showing.
JAMARI SIBLEY – F/C – WISCONSIN UNITED
The best thing about these types of platforms is there are always breakout performers who make you pay close attention. This long wiry forward did just that all spring as he performed at a high level and competed at an even higher one. His plus length makes him a menace defensively and offensively as he uses it to clean the class, block shots, alter shots, and create extra possessions and bonus points off tip ins and put backs. He can score on blocks, finish at the mid-range level, and he has the athleticism to elevate and dunk in traffic and in transition. As 8th grade prospects go Sibley is an impressive one and he’s really just scratching the surface. His dominant floor efforts served as the perfect balance to Reece Beekman’s exploits and helped his team capture the league championship with an impressive breakout campaign this spring. He’s legit and he’s raw and only getting better. A great overall effort for Sibley.
