Day 2 and Championship Sunday was chock full of some good competition and fun games to watch overall. Ray Allen Select rallied back from an 11-point deficit in the semifinals to go on and run away with the 14U championship, while MUA completed an undefeated 13U tournament to get a victory. The little guys in the 4th-6th grade brackets also played with energy and intensity while having fun throughout the day.

Michael Foster (Rebels/Spartans) showed again why he will soon be on just about everyone’s radar moving forward, Tanner Resch (RAS) was again lighting up the nets, while others like the Martin Brothers’ 2021 SG Caden Stoffer showed off a sweet shooting stroke to push his team to the limits Sunday afternoon. Check below for more of a rundown of Championship Sunday’s top performers, the stock boosters and the kids to watch in the near future.

TOP PERFORMERS
MICHAEL FOSTER – 2022 – F/C – MILWAUKEE REBELS/SPARTANS
Foster added to his big day Saturday by having a pretty strong output in 2 games Sunday. The big man was fluid running the floor with his teammates and finished strong at the rim. He was impactful on the offensive glass, getting and gathering and finishing, or getting a couple tip-ins. Defensively, he moved to help well and blocked a couple shots, then also grabbed rebounds. He finished with 19 points in an earlier win, and then 9 points later in a close loss.

TANNER RESCH – 2021 – G – RAY ALLEN SELECT
Resch can just flat out shoot the ball right now. As he grows and develops more strength he can round out his game and such, but even now he uses his quickness and court awareness to find open spots on the floor and bury shots with a sharp shooter mentality. He buried another 4 three’s in a game and 2 in another, leading the way with 20 points for a championship trophy on Sunday.

CADEN STOFFER – 2021 – SG – MARTIN BROTHERS
Stoffer did all he could to get his team to a title game, though coming up just short. The 6’2” swing guard had a game in the semi-final, burying 5 three’s with a clean release, a couple from deep and swishing through the nets with ease. He finished the game with 21 points.

SAM TALLEN – 2021 – F – PEORIA WARRIORS
Tallen had another big game on Sunday, following his strong showings on Saturday. Tallen got to work around the basket, catching in the post and making moves to the hoop, or catching away from the rim and getting to it still for finishes. He also ran the court well again, rebounded with good energy and did all he could for his team. He finished their game with 22 points.

JACK TRENT – 2022 – G/F – KESSEL HEAT
Trent had a big game again for Kessel, improving upon a good Saturday that he had. The 2022 prospect showed again that he can knock down shots from the perimeter by sinking 2 big three’s for his team, and then was also showing off his overall arsenal, hitting jumpers and also playing well going to the rim. He sank a tough game-winning contested pull-up jumper in the final seconds of a game to give him 20 points and advance his team.

STOCK BOOSTERS
JAYDEN DEAN – 2022 – PG – IL BLAZE
Dean made plays all game for his team to keep them in the game down to the finish. The young lead guard was quick in the half-court and speedy up the floor with the ball to convert some transition buckets. He also knocked down a couple nice shots as he finished the game with 17 points.

BEN NAU – 2021 – G – RAY ALLEN SELECT
Nau has really calmed his game down well of late and showed more and more comfort scoring the basketball without hesitation as Sunday wore on. He drilled a couple three’s on the day, including a couple with defenders bearing down, and then also scored off penetration and finishing a couple times as well. 

TOBY ONYEKONWU – 2022 – PG – MIDWEST UNITED ALL-STARS
MUA took home the 13U championship on Sunday and though they got contributions from several different players, Onyekonwu was a major factor in their success with his defensive pressure throughout the games, and his running. His speed up the court put defenders on their heels and he did a nice job putting the ball in the hoop whenever he had the opportunity. The young guard scored 16 points which included a nice looking three-point make.

CAM PALESSE – 2021 – G/F – RAY ALLEN SELECT
Palesse had a couple solid outings on Sunday, making plays with his frame by taking contact going to the hoop and playing through it. He had some nice finishes around the rim, and rebounded the ball really well for his team also.

JAMEER PARKER – 2022 – G – BUTLER ELITE
Butler Elite’s guard was excellent overall on Sunday, scoring points in a variety of ways in a couple games. Parker scored 11 points one game by taking what the defense gave him and finishing around the hoop. The other game, Parker was knocking down some deep jump shots, scoring in traffic in transition and also finding teammates for scores as well. He finished that contest with 20 points.

NOAH STORTS – 2022 – F – 360 SELECT
Storts had a couple solid outings for 360 on Sunday, scoring 17 points in their early game to lead the team in a tough-fought win, and then finished the day with a 12-point showing. He knocked down open shots, didn’t settle for bad looks and worked hard to get to the basket when he could and finished around the hoop.

JAKOBE THOMPSON – 2021 – G – BUTLER ELITE
Thompson had a solid day on Saturday and then played really well again on Sunday which makes him someone to keep an eye on moving forward. The Racine product was good with the ball in his hands creating for himself and for his teammates off the dribble, and then did a nice job finishing baskets at the hoop as well as a couple jumpers. He had 15 points in their earlier game.

FUTURE NAMES TO KNOW
NAZIR BEAMON – 2023 – G – PLAYGROUND ELITE
Beamon had a consistent day on Sunday with some nice buckets for his team. He ran the floor really well, but was also slicing down the lane with the ball at times to score the ball, hitting 14 points one game and then 13 another after going 7 of 11 from the free throw line.

TAYSHAWN BRIDGES – 2023 – G – PLAYGROUND ELITE
PGE got an outstanding day out of the young guard, as he put up big numbers on the board, scoring 19 points in each of two games and 17 in another, hitting shots from the outside (2 three’s) as well as making a bunch of layups or short shots.

QUINTIN CRISTER – 2023 – PG – NESYB
The NESYB floor general was really tough on Day 2, scoring the ball from all over. With a nice little floater driving the lane lines, as well as a good outside shot for his age, Crister was able to put up a big-time 25 points in their semi-final win, knocking in 3 triples in the process.

MAKAI KYAMME – 2024 – PG – ICE
Kyamme played pretty well on Saturday and then followed that with a good outing the next day, scoring 11 points for his team with a couple sweet looking jump shots and some lay-ins on the break.

JAKE PETERS – 2024 – F – MARTIN BROTHERS
Peters had a really good game scoring the basketball as well as rebounding the ball for his team Sunday. Peters scored 18 points, getting several buckets on put-backs from crashing the offensive glass, but he also hit a shot outside as well.

ISAIAH ROBINSON – 2024 – G – BUTLER ELITE
Robinson played well for Butler Elite on Day 2, finding ways to cut through the defense a few times and scoring, and also getting a couple short jumpers to fall through the nets en route to a nice 15-point effort.
