The second session of the GNBA resumed on Saturday and in the fifth-grade division guards Cameron Ferguson and Charles Steward were among the day’s premier players as Ferguson scored 19 to help lead Team GetShook to an early-morning win, while Steward went for 20 in an afternoon win for All In Athletics.

2017 GNBA SESSION 2 7TH GRADE STANDOUTS – DAY 2
Coman Young Jr. — 2022 — PG — Wisconsin Scholars

Didn’t score a lot in the game we watched Saturday morning against Kessel Heat Black, but did a terrific job of running the point, controlling the tempo and taking care of the ball.  A solid young floor general to keep tabs on moving forward.

Steven Clay — 2022 — F — Wisconsin Scholars
A versatile inside-outside performer, Clay was all over the glass at both ends of the court on Saturday in a contest against Kessel Heat Black.

Colin Hardrick — 2022 — SF/SG — Wisconsin Scholars
Hardrick had a day off the bench in the Scholars’ game against Kessel Heat Black on Saturday. He went for 10 points in the second half and 14 total as he displayed a smooth game and a nice 3-point stroke.

Tareq Rihawi — 2022 — PF — Wisconsin Scholars
Big man with terrific size, Rihawi does a good job on the boards and shows good foot work in the post at the offensive end. Utilized a spin move and a soft touch in the paint to score in the post. 

Kam Craft — 2022 — SF — Mac Irvin Fire
Long, rangy wing player that has a smooth game. Is a terrific 3-point shooter and shows outstanding form and balance for such a young player, but can also handle the ball and is terrific at getting to the basket and finishing in traffic. Had 16 points and six rebounds in limited playing time on Saturday against Yanders Law White, including 14 in the first half.

Ahmad Henderson — 2020 — PG — Mac Irvin Fire
Henderson displayed quickness and strong, heady play at the point guard position in a runaway win over Yanders Law White on Saturday. He also showed he is a knock down 3-point shooter as he made three triples in limited playing time and finished with 11 points.

David Freedman — 2022 — PF — Kessel Heat Black
Freedman is a big man with a soft touch around the basket who is also willing to get on the boards. Showed good footwork and patience in the post and uses his size well. Had a solid double double in a key win over the Wisconsin Scholars on Saturday.

Reggie Fleurima — 2022 — F — Illinois Speed Blue
A strong, versatile inside-out forward who can rebound, handle the ball and finish tough chances around the basket. He showcased the ability to get into the paint and make free throws this weekend as he shot a high percentage at the line.

NEW FACES TO KNOW
Matthew Bailey — 2024 — F — Kessel Heat Black

Bailey is a versatile inside-out forward that gets on the boards, but can also step out and shoot the ball. He led Kessel Heat Black in a Saturday afternoon loss with 13 points and eight rebounds, including three 3-pointers.

Jency Davis — 2024 — PG — TeamGetShook
Left hander who showed the ability to knock down the 3, handle the ball and get into the paint. Showed the ability to use his off hand to finish in the paint as well. Finished with 11 points, six in the first half and five more in the second, connecting on a 3 in each half of Saturday morning’s game against the Wisconsin Blizzard.

Brycen DeValk — 2024 — G — Ray Allen Select
DeValik is a smooth wing player who got to the free throw line on Saturday and also showed the ability to shoot the ball from the outside. Was 5 for 6 at the line and added a 3 as he finished with a team-high 12 points in a win over Kessel Heat Black on Saturday.

Tameron Ferguson — 2024 — PG — Team GetShook
Ferguson put on a show in an early-morning contest against the Wisconsin Blizzard. He is a ball hawk defensively and really gets after it by pressuring the ball and ripping it away from opponents. He also made a 3-pointer and flashed the ability to go end-to-end, beating opponents down the court for easy lay-ins. Ferguson finished with 19 points in Saturday morning’s game against the Wisconsin Blizzard.

Lamont Hamilton — 2024 — G — Butler Elite
A quick guard, Hamilton showed off the ability to create off the bounce a little on Saturday afternoon in a contest against All In Athletics, as well as a solid 3-point stroke. He finished with 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in a loss.

Jeremiah Johnson — 2024 — G — Ray Allen Select
Good ball handler who is creative off the bounce, especially in the open court where he uses the Euro-step to free himself up for lay-ups. Also showed the ability to shoot from the outside as he knocked down a late 3 and finished with 11 total points in a win over Kessel Heat Black on Saturday.

Kon Knueppel — 2024 — F — Wisconsin Blizzard
Knueppel did a great job of attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line where he showcased a consistent shooting stroke at the free throw line. Had the Blizzard’s first nine points Saturday morning in a loss to Team Get Shook, going 4 for 4 at the free throw line, knocking down a corner 3 and scoring in the paint. He had 11 points in the first half and finished with 20 points.

Randy McClendon — 2024 — F — Team GetShook
Did a great job of running the floor and finishing easy chances in transition and around the basket for easy buckets in the lane. Had eight in the first half and finished with 10 in an early-morning win over the Wisconsin Blizzard.

Elizah Mimis — PF — Playground Elite
Big post player was a force inside for Playground Elite. Even when he wasn’t scoring, Mimis was getting to the free throw line or drawing triple teams in the paint and taking up a lot of attention.

Langdon Nordgaard — 2024 — F — Wisconsin Blizzard
Shooter who knocked down two 3-pointers and got to the free throw line in an early-morning contest against Team Get Shook on Saturday. Had eight points in the first half and finished with 10 total.

Charles Steward — 2024 — G — Playground Elite
Steward and Hudson Torrez form a dynamic 1-2 punch in the backcourt for Playground Elite. Steward got buckets in bunches Saturday morning in a runaway with over Kessel Heat Black, knocking down 3-pointers, outrunning the defense for easy lay-ups and getting in to the paint at will. He had 18 points in the first half and finished with 22 total.

Joshua Stewart — 2024 — SF — All In Athletics
A skilled wing, Stewart is a good ball handler who can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. He had several drives and finishes in the first on Saturday against Butler Elite, then showed off his outside shooting ability in the second half as he knocked down a 3-pointer. Stewart finished the contest with a game-high 13 points.

Parker Sulver — 2024 — PF — Illinois Speed Blue
An active big, Sulver did a good job of making himself available around the basket and showed good body control as he finished several pick-and-roll plays with easy layups. He helped lead Illinois Speed Blue to a runaway win over the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday.

Nick Taylor — 2024 — F — All In Athletics
An inside-outside forward, Taylor played a lot inside at the defensive end, but at the offensive end showcased a well-rounded offensive game. He made several buckets in traffic, was 4 for 4 at the free throw line and knocked down a 3-pointer as well. Taylor finished with 11 points in limited playing time as All In Williams ran away from Butler Elite on Saturday.

Hudson Torrez — 2024 — PG — Playground Elite
Torrez flashed some slick ball handling and made several nice passes in Saturday morning’s game against Kessel Heat Black and showed the range out past the 3-point line.

Luke Williams — 2024 — G/F — Illinois Speed Blue
Williams had one of the better individual performances in the 11U division on Saturday against the Iowa Barnstormers. A wing player who can handle the ball, Williams showed a lot of promise at both ends of the floor as he hit 3s, finished in transition and made life difficult for the Iowa Barnstormers. He hit three and had 10 points at the half, then added 11 more in the second half to finish with 21.

Aiden Wilson — 2024 — PF — Illinois Speed Blue
An rangy big, Wilson did a good job of making himself available around the basket and showed a nice shooting touch in the lane as he finished several pick-and-roll plays with easy layups. 

Azire Yeager — 2024 — C — Team GetShook
Big kid who uses his size to his advantage in the paint. Has a good free throw stroke. Connected on a 3 to end the game Saturday morning at 61-41 and finished with seven points total.
