In addition to the top performers, there were plenty of others who greatly impressed over the three days in Waukegan. Here is the next group from the 13U level that truly impressed.
Maxwell Beard – 2027 – F – Illinois Flight
As well to having some size, Beard can score it effectively numerous ways. He has a smooth jumper with range to hit them from all over. Though he also scored it tough around the paint getting it done on put backs, cuts, and dump offs to put up big point totals. On the defensive end he plays with good energy and can match up with multiple positions effectively.
Jack Broderson – 2027 – SG – Chapman Basketball Gold Elite
He is a skilled two guard that is very impactful with everything he can do on the floor. As well to a well-rounded skill set and high basketball IQ, he also plays with plenty of energy. One of the better shooters at the 13U level knocking down threes consistently this tournament as well as throughout the spring. At his best as a spot up shooter but he can also play with the ball in his hands and really works on the defensive end. Broderson had multiple big games including a 15-point performance in the championship.
Caden Crudup – 2027 – F – Meanstreets
One of a few talented and highly impactful players from this Meanstreets 13U frontcourt. He has some size and strength plus plays with good energy and toughness to be very impactful on both ends. Crudup scored the ball on a good percentage of his post touches as he can bully defenders but also showed some good footwork and touch while posting up. With all his tools he defends the paint well in addition to being able to play out on the perimeter.
Montreal Hightower – 2027 – G – ABP Athletics
The guard has a great array of tools with the ball in his hands. A tough attacker that maneuvers well with the ball driving around defenders getting plenty of paint touches for himself. A smart player with the ball that drives with a purpose and knows when to kick it out. While he was most effective off the dribble, Hightower can also knock down shots spotting up from the outside.
Griffen Karchinski – 2027 – F/C – Wisconsin Blizzard
A very effective post player with some length that was just tougher and stronger than the competition. He plays with a lot of energy and was dominant on the glass grabbing everything near him battling hard against other big men. As well to his interior play, Karchinski can also step out to the perimeter and knock down shots.
Trey Rademaker – 2027 – F/C – NESYB
While the guards and wings of NESYB get plenty of attention deservingly, their post Trey Rademaker is not one to miss. In his first game of the tournament, he was a force inside scoring 16 points. He just towers over the competition standing at 6’4” plus has good strength. Much more than just a big body, he moves well and can step out the knock down the three.
TJ Ray – 2027 – G – Team GRIII
While there were plenty of shooters at the tournament, Ray was one of the best. The guard consistently shot the ball well from the outside. He has a nice compact jumper with plenty of range hitting some shots from a few steps beyond the three-point line.
Fami Yusef – 2027 – SG – Martin Brothers
Yusef had multiple big games, especially on Sunday in helping his team capture the 13U platinum title. A clutch player that led his team in the semifinals scoring 15 points and then followed that up with 13 in the championship game. He is a lengthy wing guard that did most of his scoring from beyond the arc with a smooth jumper spotting up. As well he moves well with the ball attacking the basket and is a tough on ball perimeter defender.
