While still a year out from high school, Ethan Vahl is a name to know in the 2028 class. Throughout the past year, the 6’0” point guard has continued to show he is one of the top middle schoolers in the region.

During the spring and summer, Vahl was the key piece of the dominant Illinois Flight 2028 team. Vahl and the Flight started the GNBA season with an undefeated mark at the Grassroots Showcase in Louisville. They then won championships at both the next two sessions, Generation Next Invitational and GNBA Championships with undefeated records at both tournaments. “I feel like we had a great spring, summer season,” Vahl said about his year with the Flight. “We won a lot of games but more importantly we got better throughout the season.”

When asked about his own game, Vahl described it as “all-around player.” He added in “I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to help give my team a chance to win whether it’s guarding the other team’s best player, rebounding, facilitating, or scoring.” While still at a young age, Vahl has an incredibly advanced skill set with great feel. He excels at running the point creating for himself and others. There are so few players at his age that have his combination of abilities with the ball in their hands.

A couple aspects of his game he is looking to improve before he reaches high school are getting stronger and quicker. Over the next few months, Vahl is looking to “work on my game, my body, and play with my middle school team.”
